Bata PVC Recycle Program
Bata PVC Gumboot Recycling Program
Reuse. Recycle. Remake. At Bata Industrials, we're taking responsibility for the full lifecycle of our gumboots with an industry-first PVC Recycling Program.
Our Mission
Each year, over 400,000 pairs of gumboots are made at our Mornington facility, consuming around 900 tonnes of PVC compound. Our goal is simple: zero gumboots in landfill.
By returning worn-out boots to us, we can granulate, reprocess, and remould them into brand new gumboots โ now made with up to 50% recycled content.
Why It Matters
- โ๏ธ 50% recycled PVC used in black gumboot production
- ๐ Every 1kg of recycled PVC saves 2kg of COโ
- โป๏ธ Reduces landfill and supports local manufacturing jobs
- ๐งช Up to 77% COโ emissions reduction compared to incineration
The 5-Step Recycling Process
- Collection: Drop-off bins placed across Australia & NZ
- Sorting: Non-PVC components are removed
- Granulation: Boots are shredded into small PVC pellets
- Processing: Pellets are blended with new PVC compound
- Remanufacturing: New gumboots are injection-moulded from recycled material
